About Fantail Viticulture Consultants

We are available to assist grape growers to maximise the value of their investment in grape production with advice on pest and disease management, organic viticulture, spray drift injury, site evaluation, variety and rootstock selection, vineyard budgeting, vineyard management and dispute resolution.

Rex Sunde is one of New Zealand’s most prominent viticulture consultants. He provides the technical expertise. Rex established Fantail Viticulture Consultants in 1999 to provide viticulture advice to the New Zealand wine industry.

B HORT (MASSEY UNIVERSITY)

Based on Oratia, West Auckland, Rex is a qualified horticulturist with a long history and rich experience in the industry. He has experience in both the horticultural and winegrowing industries, from owner/operator right through to the corporate level. In addition to running Fantail Viticulture Consultants, he is a principal of Misty Valley Nursery; a leading vine propagator.

Gillian Howard

Gillian grew up on a large sheep farm in Northland, and has an extensive background in finance, accounts and logistics. She provides administrative support to Fantail Viticulture with a special focus on the preparation of New Zealand Winegrowers Vineyard Spray Schedule.
